Original Normal guide / vaultedSource review:

Read the room before the pull.

The original raid lair runs from the reactor crossing and Loyalist defense through the engine, then two distinct Argos encounters. The barrier phase destroys stationary mines; the boss phase moves elemental orbs into a shield opening. They use the same relics for different jobs.

Suggested ARG roles: use a numbered walking order for the reactor, then one runner and one defender at each elemental platform. For the current Argos encounter, read the separate Pantheon notes.

The original route

01 / ENCOUNTER

Reactor crossing & Loyalist defense

Reach each checkpoint, then clear the Loyalist ambush.

Encounter list ↑
Reactor platforms, Destiny 2
Reactor platformsBungie · PCGamesN

Encounter sequence

  1. Follow one platform at a time

The first occupied platform raises the next. Move forward in order; two players on the same small platform make it sink.

  2. Regroup at solid checkpoints

Move promptly before the route retracts. At branching paths, split into two groups of three and keep the assigned walking order.

  3. Clear the far platform

After the crossing, spread to cover both enemy approaches. Defeat the Loyalist waves and the final Colossi.

  4. Take the opened hatch

Collect the first encounter chest and descend once the ambush is finished.

If the attempt breaks down
  • Call "moving" before each jump so the next player knows their landing is clear.
  • If someone falls, avoid jumping backward onto another player. Recover from the secured checkpoint.

02 / TRAVERSAL

Engine traversal

Cross the piston shockwaves and descend into the core.

Encounter list ↑
Engine traversal, Destiny 2
Engine traversalBungie · PCGamesN

Encounter sequence

  1. Watch one full cycle

Wait behind a protective wall as the piston fires. Cross to the next sheltered section while it retracts.

  2. Use cover rather than speed

Stay inside the right-angle safety sections during each shockwave. Cross the room in short stages.

  3. Control the descent

The launch tunnel sends the team through debris. Use jumps to steer toward safe landings.

  4. Optional: collect the rings

Passing through all seven rings unlocks a bonus chest. Split coverage across left, right and center; the rings are an optional detour before moving to Argos.

If the attempt breaks down
  • Do not follow a teammate out of cover after the safe window has ended.
  • For the ring chest, agree on assignments before dropping rather than having everyone chase the same ring.

03 / ENCOUNTER

Break Argos's barrier

Defuse the elemental mines before they detonate.

Encounter list ↑
Argos's barrier, Destiny 2
Argos's barrierBungie · Destinypedia

Encounter sequence

  1. Start with the relics

Picking up a Vex Cranium starts the encounter. Bring uncharged craniums to the elemental braziers and let them finish charging.

  2. Read the mine set

Defenders report the active side and every element needed. The side name is a location; it does not mean all mines there share that element.

  3. Match and defuse

Carry charged craniums to the active face and fire their matching elemental beams at the mines. Ordinary elemental guns do not replace the relic.

  4. Prepare the next face

Mine sets progress clockwise. Defenders clear enemies while runners restock and charge the needed elements. Continue until the shell opens.

OrangeSolar brazier
Blue-whiteArc brazier

If the attempt breaks down
  • Suggested call: "Solar side: two Void, one Arc." Repeat the full call before committing relics.
  • Check that the entire mine set is gone before moving on; a missed mine can end the attempt.

04 / ENCOUNTER

Argos, Planetary Core

Open the shield, damage the core and interrupt the wipe.

Encounter list ↑
Argos, Planetary Core, Destiny 2
Argos, Planetary CoreBungie · Destinypedia

Encounter sequence

  1. Read the shield

Find the platform facing the shield opening. Call its three elemental orbs; prepare matching craniums, including repeated elements.

  2. Move the orbs together

Three relic holders fire continuously at their assigned orbs, following them into the common opening. Coordinate arrival to lower the shield.

  3. Damage and rescue

Fire into the exposed core. Avoid incoming projectiles and shoot teammates out of detain traps before they float away.

  4. Break two weak points

After the original damage phase, temporary platforms appear for the wipe sequence. Climb and sustain fire on two intact weak points until both break. Use a fresh pair of weak points on later cycles.

  5. Return to the elements

Drop back to your platforms and repeat the shield-opening cycle until Argos falls.

If the attempt breaks down
  • Call the beam countdown only after all three relic holders confirm their target.
  • Switch from boss damage to the wipe mechanic immediately. A surviving weak point ends the run regardless of remaining boss health.

Prestige: what changed

The original Prestige lair kept the Normal encounter mechanics. A weekly curated weapon-type loadout and activity modifier changed the combat plan; weapon swaps were allowed only within the permitted types. This system applied to Eater of Worlds and Spire of Stars, not the original Leviathan Prestige rules.

Bungie: original Prestige raid-lair rules

Suggested preparation: confirm an allowed tool for sustained weak-point fire and another for enemy control. Do not copy a 2017 damage loadout into a returning version without checking its new activity settings.
